Social Networking!!! Why???

Why are these social networking sites popping up around us in these huge numbers? Someone says orkut, the other guy says facebook, twitter, myspace and so on and so forth. I don't see any end to this social networking culture in the near future. But why are these getting out of hand? Why people are crazy about these social networking sites?

In the good olden days people used to wake up early perform their daily duties, work hard and in the evening they used to gather around in the shade of a tree or around a round of drinks and used to talk about what's going on around the world. But now we wake up late, do less work and enjoy more and when you need to know what's happening around, there is actually no time for that. Here comes the part of social networking sites.

They were basically intended to bridge the gap between people and bring people around the world closer to each other. Of course they are successful to some extent but beyond that these sites have become a pool of separation between people. Now there is no privacy to what people are up to and with whom they want to share their feelings with. No one cares about the people dying out of hunger and natural calamities, everyday, but everyone is concerned about the dress that Miley Cyrus is gonna wear for her next concert.

Plz guys try to get away from the net of the social networking sites and try to explore the world, I mean the real world. Stop spreading virtuality....
